Desktop of the Future: Virtualization, Mobility, and BYOD

You are invited to participate in a provocative panel discussion on the Desktop of the Future: Virtualization, Mobility, and BYOD. The panelists will share their  first-hand experience with implementing these technologies and tips on how you can avoid some of the pitfalls as well as benefit from lessons learned. The panelists will discuss technologies that run independent of hardware and enhance user productivity as well as the latest trends on Bring Your Own Device (BYOD). In addition, three Local IT Desktop panel participants will share their perspectives on desktop support, Citrix, mobile devices, and dispatching. Scott Meyer, Co-Panelist

Scotts’ primary role as an Enterprise Mobility Architect at Progress Energy has been to define and execute a multi-year Mobility Strategy that is both cost effective and delivers high business value. Over the last few years he has led many mobility initiatives including a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program. Scott has played a key role in developing the “Desktop of the Future” (DOF) vision. He is a 25 year veteran in IT and has held numerous technical and management positions in industry leading companies including DuPont, Bell & Howell, Revlon and Progress Energy or the new Duke Energy.

 

 

Lawton Mikell, Co-Panelist

Lawton has been with Progress Energy for 26 years and is currently the Desktop System Architect responsible for setting the standards for endpoint computing hardware and operating systems. Most recently Lawton helped implement a virtual desktop system for an external Call Center and he assisted with developing the “Desktop of the Future” (DOF) for Duke Energy. Lawton is a 34 year veteran in IT and previously worked for Detroit Diesel Allison as a Reliability Engineer.
